Set a hot cast-iron skillet right on this and my counter didn't even warm up; the suede is thicker and more absorbent than I expected. It's already my go-to for grabbing lids off pots mid-boil, and the stitching hasn't frayed after a month of daily use.

I was skeptical about leather as a hot pad, but this suede one grips my cast iron skillet perfectly without slipping. It's thick enough that I've set hot baking sheets directly on it with no warping or heat transfer.

The double-layered design handles my cast iron skillet straight from the oven without any heat coming through—my old cloth pads couldn't do that. It's soft to the touch but surprisingly sturdy on the counter.
